Thank you for visiting our website, designed to keep the local community informed about submitted development proposals for the former St Wilfrid’s Convent, 29 Tite Street.
London Square acquired the property in March 2024 with the intention to bring forward plans for a residential-led development with community uses.
Further to this, we are excited to be working alongside the National Army Museum to bring their existing car park off Royal Hospital Road into the plans, creating exhibition and gallery space located underground and incorporating a new landscaped garden with public access.
Our submitted proposals:
A new residential building that is sympathetic to local architecture, materials and design cues, ranging from four to six storeys.
42 homes, ranging from one to three-bedroom family homes.
A once-in-a-generational opportunity to deliver new gallery space and a lecture theatre for the National Army Museum.
A new publicly accessible garden and children’s play space as part of the National Army Museum’s extension, increasing public open space in the ward by 15%.
Public realm improvements, including six new mature trees planted along Tite Street, with a feature tree on the corner of Royal Hospital Road.
The removal of a negative contributor building from the Royal Hospital Conservation Area.

We welcome the opportunity to work with London Square on this once-in-a-lifetime moment to support our mission to inspire audiences of all generations with the stories of British soldiers and those from across the world, and our Army who have served in every corner of the globe.
The National Army Museum chose to relocate to Chelsea in 1970, and this development will complete the vision of our founders, helping us reach even more visitors and strengthen our community role within this remarkable and historic borough.
We’ve worked extensively on these plans and are excited for the potential they offer to us and our partners in the Chelsea Heritage Quarter, the Royal Hospital Chelsea and Chelsea Physic Garden.

Support our proposals
Our plans aim to bring lasting benefits to the area, improving the setting of the Royal Hospital Conservation Area and replacing an existing building that no longer contributes positively to its surroundings.
We understand that some people may have questions or concerns and we welcome open discussion about the proposals. However, without redevelopment, the opportunity to extend the National Army Museum and create new public spaces would not be possible.
If you would like to show your support or share your views, please contact us by emailing consultation@tite-street.co.uk. Every comment helps ensure that local voices are heard as the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea considers the application.
